It’s the week of the summer solstice, so I thought why not read a summer-themed poem to the artists at the Saturday Genesis Art Workshop on Zoom. Google directed me to this site: https://www.poetryfoundation.org/poets/paul-laurence-dunbar, where I was drawn to Summer-time, the magnificent poem of Paul Laurence Dunbar. Little did I know that it was actually his birthday in a few hours, June 27th. RIP Paul Laurence Dunbar. You had a hard life. But the world is a better place in the trail of words you left behind. We love you.
